The new 2019 Macbook Air (MVFH2LL/A) is incredibly thin. Almost to the point that’s it’s just getting unreasonable. At it’s “thickest” it’s only .61 inches, and the thinner edge is .16 inches. If you’re wondering why it’s called the air, that’s it. It’s almost nothing inches thick at the thinnest edge. As for weight, its total weight to 2.75 lbs. You might honestly forget you’re even carrying it.
In terms of what’s actually magically inside it, there isn’t all that much to really stand out. a unique 1.6 GHz i5 that can boost up to 3.6 GHz when needed. For a graphics card, the only option is the integrated Intel UHD Graphics 617 which can handle a surprising amount of graphic output. mainly in terms of external monitors. according to the Apple website,
“One external display with 5120-by-2880 resolution at up to 60Hz
Up to two external displays with 4096-by-2304 resolution at up to 60Hz“
Which allows you one 5K monitor, or 2 “just over” 4K monitors which is quite impressive although thunderbolt ports are capable of handing a ton of data. If you feel the graphics aren’t enough, you’re in luck because you can actually plug in external thunderbolt 3 enabled GPUs if you need the extra kick of power.
Downsides to the Macbook Air?
This does however, come with some drawbacks. Like with most macs you can’t really take them apart or add anything to them. This macbook air is no different. You’re stuck with the 8GB, and it’s an 8GB 2133MHz LPDDR3. A little slower than most other laptops that are commonly running DDR4 at 2600MHz. It’s possible to get a 256GB or 512GB PCIe SSD, but you’re going to end up paying way more than the extra storage is really worth.
If you’re in need for a thin, lightweight, and long lasting laptop that you can plug in once a day and have running throughout the workday, the Macbook Air is a great choice. Having a gorgeous Retina Display doesn’t hurt. As of now, it’s currently on sale for Black Friday and $200 off the original price. This is a Black Friday Deal that’s been promoted early and can be purchased early too!
